THE WPGA EDITORIAL AWARD
Winning images will be published in Intransit Magazine and exhibited in Matera, Italy in October 2011.
The Worldwide Photography Gala Awards invites professional and non-professional photographers worldwide to submit their work to the 1st Edition of The WPGA Editorial Award. Challenging personal, emotional or political statements are welcome. Works published or already awarded by other organizations will be accepted in this Award. The theme is open, but the images should address current affairs, cultural and daily life, environmental issues, natural disasters and the aftermath, wars and related conflicts, celebrities’ portraits, sports, etc.

He has received more than 40 international awards from all around the world and his work has been featured in over 50 major international publications including: National Geographic, Vogue, Time, Sunday Times, Newsweek, Geo, Stern,Der Spiegel, The Fader,Brand Ein, The Guardian, Marie Claire, Colors, The Economist, The New Internationalist, Kontinente, Amnesty Journal, Courier International, PDN, Die Zeit, Days Japan, Hello, and Sunday Telegraph of London. In 2002 he was for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass in the Netherlands. In 2004 he received the Young Reporters Award from the Scope Photo Festival in Paris. In 2006 he was awarded World Press Photo award and released his first book "First Light". In 2007 Akash was selected for the 30 Emerging Photographers (PDN 30) by Photo District News Magazine, USA. He won the 7th Vevey international photography grant from Switzerland in 2009. In 2009, Akash wins the international ‘Travel photographer of the year ‘title from the international travel photographer of the year competition (TPOY 2009), the most prestigious award in travel photography. He was one of the speakers in the fifth Global Investigative Journalism Conference held at Lillehammer, Norway in 2008 and in TEDxOporto 2011 in Portugal. In 2010 he won The Invisible World Award, juried by Chris Steele-Perkins (Magnum Photos).
Gaetano Plasmati, photojournalist, curator and publisher, Italy
Gaetano is curator of the Porta Pepice Gallery in Matera, Italy, and publisher and editor of Intransit Magazine. He has done photography reportages in almost all corners of the world: Greek, Turkey, Albania, Thailand, Birmany, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Morocco, Tunis, Alger, Libya, Niger, Kenya, Madagascar, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Peru, India,Cuba, Maldives, Mali, Namibia, and Jordan. Traditions, popular celebrations and cultural manifestation became his documentation goals. Gaetano is also a theatre, jazz music and classic and advertising photographer.

Exhibition and Publishing:
The winning image and images awarded with Honorable Mention will selected by the jurors to be featured in Intransit Gallery, and exhibited in the Gallery Porta Pepice in Matera Italy in October 2011. Photographer will receive 50% commission of the gallery sales.
